Are there any Adam Ant tracks released on the Mini CD format (the 3inch Discs)?

Only one as far as I know and I don't have it, it's one of the best of compilations.

It doesn't appear that often and I can't play it. I've never bothered.
One person keeps putting it on Ebay for about £20 which is about 4 times the max amount that i would pay for it.

I am surprised. I thought that they could still be played on an ordinary CD player, or are we on crossed wires?

only if you had one of those CD players with a in/out sliding drawer with a moulded shallow bevel that allowed 3" CDs to be played.

Ignore the above, I had in my mind that you were talking about a minidisc, not a mini CD

I thought that's what it meant too.  I used to have a mini disc player.  It's a format that just never took off isn't it?

I still do and I've got a spare when for when/if my current one pegs out (12 years old with a faulty hinge, but the laser and the processor are both fine for the moment.)

They did alright for a while; they saw off Digital Compact Cassette and they were (still are) much better than tapes in that they don't stretch or stick - particularly good if you want to hear a single track or short section over and over and - until recent improvements in laptops which have made them preferable to workstations - minidiscs stayed viable for DJs (for compilation), cabaret performers etc (for their backing tracks) but CD burning and portable Mp3 players have outdone them for domestic digital recording and replacing cassettes.

David - I loved my Mini Disc Player/Recorder until some thieving bastard took it out of my rucksack in London as well as a decent digital camera. Our wedding was played via two Mini Disc v/a comps over my medium sized PA. That was it - I couldn't risk a crap DJ so I did it (with the wife's input of course, I'm not a complete control freak).

I loved my minidisc players too.  We had a portable one and a unit hooked up to our stereo.  We got rid of all our old cassettes once we transferred them over to minidisc.  Heaps better.  That's why I couldn't understand why they never took the place of tapes.  MP3 is what killed the minidisc, but I never thought Sony marketed the well either.  I think they really dropped the ball with that one.
Once I got my first iPod touch, we just had no use for them any more so we shipped it off to Vinnes.
Incidentally, when I was on radio, minidisc was the preferred method for recording and playing sponsorship announcements.  I guess that's all MP3 now too.
