At long last I've got round to adding the next phase to the Adam Ant biography continuing with 1978.

    Just some comments :

They also managed to record the first of their three BBC Peel sessions for Radio 1 in January and also completed the tracks Plastic Surgery and Deutscher Girls which were to be used for the Jubilee soundtrack album.

Too long a sentence, needs some punctuation. I think a full stop after January and start the next part "They also completed...." ?

And it's misleading - there was just a guitar overdub on Plastic Surgery.  Most of the released version was just the July 77 Chappells studio version.

(There's also the little matter of that snippet from News Of Adam #2 which claims that the song was only remixed on 24/01/78 at Air studios and was actually recorded late '77 at "a tiny studio in Swiss Cottage")

As I said it was completed, not recorded.
This isn't an intricately detailed bio.
That will come some years down the line. It's the bigproject that I'm working on.

It can be as big as you want it to be Monk but you know some people will still feel the need to correct you!

If there are any incorrect bits then surely we will!

and I take all comments seriously.
There's no denying that David has a lot of knowledge stored in that noggin of his (although sometimes not spot on in my opinion, hey ho personal tastes and all that, but each to their own) and I appreciate his and anybody's input!

I suppose my main frustration with the documentation of the Ants is that we can all quibble over dates and times (although I can't, on the whole I haven't got the first clue which studios were used for which version with whichever musicians etc. (I didn't even know there was a period of Adam Ant touring the States where Marco wasn't standing to his right on stage)), but the lack of debate (or anecdotal evidence) that goes some way to explaining musical or lyrical changes in direction. A more culturally analytical reading of his ouvre.

If facts aren't exact, why bother - personal taste doesn't come into it. But then I'm not a big fan of the notion of facts. How nerdy is that?

    Start a debate/discussion...

I suppose the change from 79 (Dirk) Ants to 80 (kings) Ants is well documented but there have been more turns than that.
